The Miami Marlins are reportedly in talks with several teams to keep him on the team.
(USATSI) The Miami Heat have been a big proponent of keeping Fernandez on the roster despite their current contract situation, but they are in talks to keep Fernandez on as a player.
Sources told USA Today that the Heat have approached several teams about retaining Fernandez, and if the talks continue to go well, the team could move him to a different position next season.
The Miami Herald reported on Wednesday that the Marlins were in talks for Fernandez.
The team is expected to make a decision on his future in the next few days.
The Herald also reported that the team has already talked to the San Francisco Giants about keeping Fernandez as a non-roster player.
Fernandez will make $16 million in 2017, $20 million in 2018, and $25 million in 2019.
